Former Nigerian international and coach of the Super Eagles, Sunday Oliseh, has resigned as the coach of Nigeria’s national football team.

The 41-year-old former midfielder and captain of the team signed a three-year deal in July 14, 2015, as Super Eagles coach after the sacking of former coach and ex-Nigerian international, Stephen Keshi, for poor results leading to their failure to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations 2015 as defending champions.
Sunday Oliseh, at the start of the Nigeria coaching job, expressed belief in the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and called for the support of everyone to get results with the national team.
However, Oliseh had a tough time managing the team with stints of poor results including a conflict with former goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama, who decided to quit the Super Eagles.
The former AFC Ajax, Borussia Dortmund and Juventus FC midfielder expressed gratitude for “having had the honour to play, captain and coach this great nation…Nigeria.”
I feel fortunate, blessed and eternally grateful for having had the honour to Play,Captain & Coach this great Nation of ours,Nigeria.
